I am amazed that so many Evangelicals and right wing Catholics idolize Trump.
They prattle about him being anointed by God, a vessel of God’s will, etc. they seem to regard Trump as a junior varsity messiah, who will redeem us and lead us to salvation. God help us.

I am convinced that some of them are planning for this – to make the orange guy or whomever is convenient their new messiah. This is what fascists do – they come in holding the cross, the six pointed star, whatever is the conventional religion, and twist it to worship of them and their cause.
We know that in the last year or two of WWII, there were plans among Hitler’s inner circle to eventually close down churches to replace them with Nazi community centers.
I have no doubt that the orange guy and his followers would love to do the same; to make him a god.
