I Remember When the Righteous Thought Pedophiles and Sex Traffickers Were Bad

Some of my readers may remember in 2023 when all Good Christians[TM] were commanded, on pain of being libeled as Supporters of Human Trafficking, to go see SOUND OF FREEDOM, starring QANON Jesus, purveyor of 100% reliable information.

Yessirree, we were all assured that the only conceivable reason people who had been fighting sex trafficking for years wanted to warn people off the movie was because they were part of a sinister media campaign to “silence” opposition to sex trafficking.

And so, the Greatest Christians of All Time–-wrong about everything, wrong all the time–-characteristically joined yet another Right Wing Panic du Jour and stampeded off yet another cliff in their ongoing crusade to be so wrong about so much so many times for so long that only a fool would trust their judgment.

The result was as predictable as sunrise.

But all that stuff was sooooo 2023. Opposition to sex trafficking pedophiles is old and busted. Passionate thrills over a sex trafficking pedophile as the Highest Law Enforcement Officer in the Land is the New Hotness because (you guessed it) PRO-LIFE!

As my friend, Evangelical film critic Jeffrey Overstreet, put it:

“Evangelicals: ‘Let’s make this movie about the evils of sex trafficking a huge hit!’

Also evangelicals: ‘If Trump wants an accused sexual predator who is alleged to have been sexually involved with a 17-year-old to be the Attorney General — a job for which he has no qualifications whatsoever — God be praised!'”

I deeply resent this, Jeffrey. Lots of pious Greatest Catholics of All Time deserve every bit as much credit for this whorish, filthy hypocrisy as Evangelicals do.

Here, for instance, is the deservedly laicized Mr. Frank Pavone, continuing to illustrate the diabolical seduction of the MAGA “pro-life” cult of death as he celebrates with the Great Man himself.

I congratulated Matt Gaetz, our next Attorney General last night at Mar-a-Lago. We briefly discussed the need to protect peaceful #prolife activism.

It is profoundly illustrative of the defining psychological trait of conservatives in the Age of MAGA that these cosplay martyrs whose capacity for empathy extends only to themselves and those rare people who are extensions of their egos (while regarding all other human suffering as non-existent, contemptible, funny and/guilt manipulation) would think only of some imaginary threat to themselves from which they need “protection” while turning a blind eye to Gaetz’ victims–and that they would use the unborn as human shields for the whole cesspit.

The Cult keep saying that Trump is sent by God. Curiously, Isaiah said the same thing about the Assyrians. That did not turn out to be good news for Israel (Isaiah 10). But I’m willing to entertain the idea.

The Angel of Death was likewise sent by God to Egypt at the Exodus. And indeed, everything Trump touches dies. From Rudy Giuliani to Michael Cohen to the sundry shills and lackeys and toadies languishing in prison while he skates, utterly forgotten by him when they ceased to be of use, Trump has done a crackerjack job of destroying the lives of a great number of wicked people. He has even had a hand in getting the Church cleaned up by bringing desecrators like Pavone and schismatic enemies of the Faith like Vigano and Strickland and Altman out into the sanitizing, laicizing, and excommunicating daylight.

  1. I am old enough to remember the Clinton years, when all my GOP friends endlessly assured me, “Character matters!” The thing is: They weren’t wrong. Character does matter.

But apparently it only matters when it is a Democrat. For Republicans, the end justifies any means.

I have been watching Trump’s nominees with a stewy mixture of amusement at the ridiculousness of most of them and horror at what it means for our country. At this point, it wouldn’t surprise me if his nominee to head the FDA is Ronald McDonald.

  2. What in the world is Mister Pavone doing, swanning around Mar-a-Lago? Lending his loving support to adulterers and pedophiles, shocking but not surprising in the least.

  3. Let’s hear it for toxic masculinity! Donald Trump is a he-ro for incels, misogynists and basic-non-thinking- whiners the world over.

I always wondered why the birth rate is/was so low in Europe and Asia.

Isn’t it sad and funny that good Christian women have let these perverts convince them that the low birth rates are due to the selfishness of women?

  4. *sorry,–not “funny”. Not even almost funny.

My 89 y.o. mother, who loves Trump and thinks he’s the savior of all things good and holy, refers to women who date her grandsons as “tramps” if they go on trips with her grandsons but doesn’t use such language for her grandsons.

I’m so tired. What on earth is going on.

  5. This particular nominee bothers me the most. It is a spit in the face to anyone who has been sexually assaulted or abused.
It’s also a slap in the face to actual attorneys who do work for justice. He hasn’t even tried a federal case.
    He isn’t a serious candidate.
And Mr. Frank is the epitome of scandal. His being laicized should have humbled him, not emboldened him. If he’s an actual advisor to trump, his advice is lacking.
It’s just so disheartening. I consent to all of Catholic teaching. I didn’t think that none of it mattered except for making abortion illegal.
