The more I read Dickens and the Victorians on sin, the more I sometimes suspect the sexual revolution of the 1960s was a godsend for those larval MAGA leaders and future cultists laboring to overturn the great social reforms of the Victorian era to the mid 20th century New Deal.
Suddenly, all the passion that once went to helping the poor could be diverted to panicking over pelvic issues and diverted away from the overwhelming attention Christians and Progressives (but I repeat myself) paid to matters of power and wealth inequality.
And now the Pied Pipers who taught Christians to whore themselves out to money and power have gotten the sheep to stop caring even about sex when it pertains to power and wealth inequality of MAGA rapists and sex predators. Nobody defends a rapist the way MAGA antichrist cultists do. Why Trump and Musk are just like King David with their “family values” expressed through lots of children by multiple conquests in their harems. When Trump is convicted on 34 counts of election interference for banging a porn star it makes him exactly like Jesus!
The prey, still fantasizing that they will one day be Elon’s and Donald’s fellow alpha wolves, thieving and banging their own prey just like the Big Dogs, have not yet figured out that they have spent 45 years helping their predators construct an abbatoir for themselves. Even now, they continue to cheer because they think the intended victims of the Tyrant consist exclusively of those they hate: brown people, refugees, LGBTQ, parasites and vermin like the poor and homeless, “the Enemy Within”, and useless pediatric cancer victims who (as Trump said of his own nephew with cerebral palsy) should “just die“.
They still cannot grasp the twist ending to the story that the rest of the audience can see coming a mile off while they blithely say, “If the poor be like to die they had better do it and help decrease the surplus population.”

Russell Moore is one of those in the world who give me hope that Christianity isn’t just a load of crock, but something people actually take seriously, and will risk their treasures for. He is a good, decent, and honorable man, and he stands head and shoulders above the chattering idiots of both the MAGA right and the hard left.

As a Millennial, this was stuff that my parents kept in the background because they didn’t want their children to hear about POTUS being fellated in the Oval Office. To say that some of our leading politicians, cultural voices, and journalists did nothing to cover up, minimize, or outright lie about his behavior towards women is bad history; it is a lie. Jonah Goldberg (whose mother, Lucianne, played a small role in the Lewinski proceedings) has an early episode of his podcast The Remnant, Episode 8 “Predators, Real and Imagined,” where he discusses in-depth the work that the intelligentsia put into downplaying Clinton’s tendency to play Baron and the Milkmaid with almost any woman who came within his purview. Remember how Glorian Steinem, feminist icon, formulated the “one free grope” rule for powerful men who defend abortion? Remember arguments from back in the day about how uptight Americans were about sex, and how we shold be more understanding and sophisticated about these sorts of things?
Consider also how it is only after Edward Kennedy’s death in 2009 that we are finally free to call out the Kennedy clan for how they treat women, even though JFK and Ted’s proclivities (for booze as well as women) were–well, I’d call them open secrets, but that fact is, with Ted at least, it wasn’t a secret, every waitress in DC knew to watch their body against roving Kennedy hands. But he was the Liberal Lion who defended Medicare in the Senate, so why raise a fuss?
Maybe you’ll find this hard to believe, but NONE OF THIS IS A DEFENSE OF TRUMP OR TRUMPISM. It is a criticism of hyperbolic rhetoric, and a certain political Manicheanism that sees in the two parties an army of darkness vs warriors of light, and not human beings. It is a criticism of ignoring inconvenient historical facts; if we’re going to push back against Trump’s lies, we cannot then use false history in our defense.
And, as a final response, in respect to Ms. Ocasi0-Cortez, the military takes up 3% of the federal budget; entitlements like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid take up 73%. By all means, cut the military budget, but it’s not going to get you the funds you need for a solvent economy.

When I say that nobody defends a rapist like the MAGA cult my point is like Moore’s who warned years ago that the Religious Right are the people the Religious warned you about 20 years ago. They have adopted all the worst traits and tactics of the people they once claimed to oppose.
And, for me, the gravest sin of all is that they have done so while claiming something secular libs never did: to be the Greatest Chrisitans of All Time. Holier than the Church. Holier than the Pope. Holier than Jesus who (as Moore reports) is regarded by the MAGA Christian cult as “weak” and “liberal”.
The servant who does not know his master’s will and does not do it will be beating with few blows. The servant who knows his master’s will and does not do it will be beaten with many blows. The Greatest Christians of All Time claim to be such infinitely superior beings to the rest of the human race that they can sit in judgment of the Holy Father and even Jesus–all while defending a rapist. Clinton, predator though he is, at least made a show of penitence with his Big Bible act. And just as none of his s;leazy defenders claimed to be apostles of the living God sent here to save the Church from the Pope, so no conservative Christian pretended to believe or defend Clinton. I thought that was because they took the gospel teaching on rape seriously. Because I did.
Now, come to find out these filthy fuckers compare Trump to Jesus Christ crucified when he bangs a porn star and rapes E Jean Carroll. That’s not something Clinton’s defenders ever attempted.
So yeah: nobody defends a rapist like a MAGA Christian cultist. Those to whom much is given, much will be required. Christians have been given vastly more than some non-Christian Clinton defender has. MAGA Christians have betrayed inconceivably more than those who have never claimed to believe the gospel betrayed. It makes me sick at heart.
