Trump likes to complain about people that he appointed, such as Jerome Powell. Somehow, everything that went wrong, even during Trump’s first term is Joe Biden’s fault. Yeah, right.
MAGA seems to think that Joe Biden is either a complete idiot or an evil genius. Which is it? Is he a bumbling fool or is he the Prince of Darkness? He can’t be both.
Trump is a symptom of the real problem. The real problem is that the White working class has become unbelievably stupid. They don’t read newspapers for any in depth news, they just watch Fox News with their bimbos in short skirts spewing right wing claptrap. And they worship Trump.
Thirty odd years ago, the professor of a Southeast Asia political science class somehow got on a tangent about peasants as a class of people.
He said westerners wrongly romanticized peasants. He told us “peasants are horrible people. They’re ignorant savages. They believe anything that a charismatic leader tells them”
I thought that was terribly elitist at the time but the evidence seems to bear out his assertion. Of course our peasants have far more opportunity to overcome their ignorance than dirt poor substance farmers of past centuries.
There is a reason MAGA wants to ban the teaching of real history and to discourage education in general. Totalitarianism needs an ignorant population to survive.
No disagreement with 95% of this but one quibble that the MAGAts have a germ of a point about lockdowns etc in 202. While these were not “Joe Biden’s administration” – and while most (not all, but most) of these measures were justifable – it was Democratic governors who imposed them more at State level. GOPs like DeSantis quickly realised they could be popular by pushing the “freedom!” line.
So if “Biden” is a synecdoche for “the Democrats”, the way “Jeremiah” can include “all the lesser prophets in that part of the Bible”, then their point is not utterly wrong factually. Just morally whack.
Also, Charlie Kirk like others is missing the point about “your grandma dying alone in a hospital.” What if you going to see her will kill someone else’s grandma?
