He was a nurse helping a woman ICE attacked. He had a permit to carry, but he never brandished a weapon. He brandished a camera. They took away his gun, then they murdered him, pouring lead into his defenseless body for no reason other than exultation in the hellish joy of killing.

First, they came for the immigrants, but I said nothing because I was not an immigrant. We have seen this movie before.
I don’t think most of these “ICE agents” are law enforcement of any kind.
They’re probably recruits from racist militia groups illegally deputized and set loose. Many of them are probably convicted felons who are not even legal to touch a firearm let alone carry them.
That’s part of the reason they are masked at all times. Otherwise they’d be recognized as Jan 6 terrorists.

The Catholics aligned with the Fuhrer and enabled his rise. To fight the communists ..what a noble goal!!! After they gave him power, a few bishops started making ineffective noises, protesting this and that. That sham, that fig leaf of protests from a few, is now used to claim that the Catholic Church always opposed Hitler. The truth is that they actively participated in giving him power. What a whitewashing.

The USCCB not only refused to speak against MAGA in the last election, and abetted their election. A few of them making crocodile tears now, should not absolve them of the complicity of giving power to Trump and enabling this evil. The majority of them support white racism and white power.
Don’t let them whitewash the evil they did. Dont let them escape from their accountability. They had the lessons of history. This learned elite, the philosophical dons, the doctors of the Church, knew betters nd still decided to do what they did. They should be shown no forgiveness.
The Church has always supported fascism and murder, far more than opposed it. The occasions which they trumpet as opposition is token and theatric. When and where it mattered – to stop evil gaining the power to do evil – they have supported evil, orl maintained a “strategic” immoral indifference in the face of evil
The truth of history bears witness to it. After the fact mea culpas, after murdering and exterminating so-called “enemies”, does not wipe away the cunning duplicity of the Catholic Church.
And don’t forget the “Ratline” network after WW2, run by Catholic clergy that transported Nazis from Europe to Argentina to escape Justice. There is no excuse for this.
If the pope wants the church to be on the right side of history this time, he needs to immediately defrock any priest or bishop who publicly excuses or celebrates fascism. Do no pass go, do not collect $200. Out of a job and collar by the end of the next business day.
Many American Bishops are MAGA. The most prominent being Barron. They refuse to be even mildly critical of Trump. They remind me of teenage girls and the Beatles with their emotional infatuation with Trump. It’s sickening.
This is why I cannot unconditionally oppose capital punishment.
These criminals deserve a short drop on a rope after Nuremberg style tribunals.
If due process and guilt was properly established, I’d have no problem seeing that penalty carried out. None.
I don’t think prison is adequate either because we no longer have rule of law. The next right wing president would simply free them and give them millions in reward money.
