I love what the Lincoln Project is doing

These are made by the few remaining Republicans who put country before party. Bravo, gents!

And they aren’t just targeting Trump. Like George Will, they understand that the whole GOP Crime Syndicate has to be burned to the ground and salt sowed on its ashes with prayers of exorcism–in Latin–intoned over its unmarked grave:

There’s plenty more. The Lincoln Project will be very busy till November. And Trump will provide them with all the footage and recordings they need.

  1. It gives me pause that some of the best anti-Trump ads (and critiques, and activism, etc.) come from…conservatives and former Republicans.

    1. There is a Providence that protects idiots, drunkards, children and the United States of America.

      Otto von Bismarck

    2. Hah. I can really relate to Rick Wilson and Steve Schmidt, in particular. I have more or less the same looks as well.

  2. George Conway, a member of the Lincoln Project and husband of trump shill Kellyanne Conway (hope I live long enough to see the movie about their marriage) writes here about the consequences of electing inhumane leaders – https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/06/05/presidents-inhumanity-is-deeper-than-we-knew/%3foutputType=amp

The WAPO articles refers to a New Yorker profile of trump from 1997, here: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1997/05/19/trump-solo

Reading it, I was struck by the fact that trump seems frozen in time. The article was written 25 years ago. It could have been written today. A stunted life. No sign of natural human grow or maturation, like Lot’s wife, a pillar of salt.

    1. The New Yorker article ending:

“And, most important, every square inch belonged to Trump, who had aspired to and achieved the ultimate luxury, an existence unmolested by the rumbling of a soul. “Trump”—a fellow with universal recognition but with a suspicion that an interior life was an intolerable inconvenience, a creature everywhere and nowhere, uniquely capable of inhabiting it all at once, all alone.”

      A demonically perfect description.

      1. And here’s a much shorter story by John Cassidy from January 2016, What Sort of Man is Donald Trump?

In 2000, during a family dispute about the details of his father’s will, Trump, who was by then fabulously wealthy in his own right, cut off benefits from the family health plan that were paying for the medical care of his nephew’s seriously ill young son.

But one of many reports and demonstrations of Trump’s cruelty during the election year. But…as Adam Serwer said, “the cruelty is the point.”

  3. I am extremely glad that they are standing up and being counted, but where were they in 2016? Who and what Trump is — a bloated 74-year-old baby with the morals of a congressman – was obvious fiveyears ago, when he started to run. They were all for him then. But when it started to affect their bottom line, their political power, their influence, or their race, as in the case of a number of black conservatives who have stood up recently, including Colin Powell just yesterday, they suddenly realize they have souls, morals, and conscience. (unlike the general run of evangelical trump lickers). They supoortedJohn McCain as well, even when he selected that feral, evangelical snow Barbie who wasn’t Any more competent to run the country than Jabba the Trump.

It’s very much like that black professor who resigned from “Liberty” “university” because Fartwell was finally just too racist for him. Still, the morals of a congressman, and he didn’t care until black people were affected.

I’m glad they’re doing it, but I am less than impressed.

  4. Thanks Neko. I can’t reply to your comment for some reason, so I hope you find this!

I’m one enough to remember when Spy Magazine took on The Donald and won. To quote Maya Angelou, when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.
