Previously, on Stumbling Toward Heaven, I offered this observation:
One of the defining psychological features of the Cult is a capacity for empathy that extends solely to the Self and those perceived as an extension of the Self. All other human suffering is non-existent, contemptible, funny, and/or guilt-manipulation.
This pattern has been constant for years:
Trump’s rape of Carroll? Non-existent. The bitch lied. As do all those gold-digging broads who make up this Witch Hunt.

Feeling compassion for suffering refugees? That’s the Sin of Empathy. You are trying to guilt-manipulate me into worrying about invaders when we should really care about homeless vets. And don’t get me started with the guilt-manipulation by those who care about homeless vets. That’s just guilt-manipulation for the Welfare State. Those vets should get a job. And don’t get me started on help for the unemployed. That’s just guilt-manipulation by communists and socialists. Etc. ad nauseam.
The key is to understand who the Cult sees as an extension of the Self.
MAGA propaganda has relentlessly taught the Cult to keep the Circle of Empathy as small as possible. Typically, the immediate family.
So “I need my arsenal of guns to protect me and my family! Anybody trying to stop maniacs from shooting up schools is part of an assault on me and my family!”
Or “Trump is protecting my family from the brown invaders and whatever he has to do protect my family and give us cheaper eggs? Well, the ends justify the means! Alligator Alcatraz is awesome!”
This strategy of keeping the Circle of Empathy limited to the immediate family has done this so well that most MAGA cultists do not even extend it to other MAGA cultists. This is why, when Trump stabs some portion of the Cult in the back, the rest of the Cult does not care.
“If you are going to live in a flood zone, you should expect flooding” says the rest of the Cult while Trump leaves MAGA victims in Texas to drown.
“You voted for MAGA and your wife got deported? Well, you should have thought of that before marrying an invader. Sucks to be you. Not my problem.”
Again and again, the Cult has been blinded to any empathic connections that might interfere with their tight personal identification with the Orange Messiah.
And as time goes on, the evidence for this only piles up.
Short story, he loved the cruelty to his victims and now that the cruelty is hurting him. But as is their custom, the rest of the Cult doesn’t care, because their capacity for empathy is restricted solely to the Self and that tiny circle who are extensions of the Self. Empathy is weakness for the Cult. So this guy had it coming for promoting Woke Solar Energy. His sufferings are non-existent, contemptible, funny, and/or guilt manipulation. He is trying to weaken devotion to the Orange Messiah and was never really MAGA at all.
Same for this olive-skinned Lebanese immigrant:
The rest of the Cult, as is their custom, will likewise learn nothing from this and will only rejoice that another foreigner got what was coming to him for pretending to be a Real America[TM].
What Normals should learn from this is that Trump fully intends to never need the votes of the Cult or anyone else ever again, because he and the GOP Crime Syndicate, filled with the sense of righteousness that only the Greatest Christians of All Time assume as their birthright, fully intend to overthrow our democracy and establish themselves as a permanent authoritarian regime.
But at least we were spared Her Annoying Laugh.

It’s very troubling to see MAGA Catholics, who consider themselves to be so “devout” to take pleasure at seeing illegal immigrants beaten up and carted off by ICE. Deportation might be debated, but humane treatment should not be debated.
I made my son Xavier avocado toast with a fried egg on top this morning. We sat down and I noticed he was eating his toast with a fork and knife. I laughed.
“What are you, the Queen of England?”
“Do you think the Queen of England eats her avocado toast with utensils?”
“No, because they don’t have cutlery in hell.” (Hahaha)
“Oh, I forgot she was dead. Do you think she’s in Hell?”

Where, and how we grow up really makes a difference–you know–crack baby vs. white middle class baby raised in a good neighborhood– Queen Elizabeth didn’t choose to be a descendent of power hungry creeps who committed genocide–but she *must* have had moments of clarity about her family. God is the divine mathematician who considers *everything* in his computations.”
This is how I can explain my Trump-loving Mother. She has served her family with valor and unselfishness. She taught 25 grandchildren how to read, and cooked Sunday dinner for over fifty years, sharing her table with all of us. But she went in for the anti immigrant bait. –She’d cheer for plenty of multi generational Americans who behave in bad taste to be deported too. She’s too steeped in her 1950’s world view to see the forest for the trees. She really. can’t. see. it. Nevertheless, I maintain that she IS a wonderful woman. She will be sad when she finally sees how she was duped. But only God Almighty will be able to convince her.
When Mum wanted to gush about “Trump the peacemaker!” and “his groundbreaking historic negotiations!”–her breathless, “he’s bringing the world together–Did you see that stage!?”
I gently put on my kid gloves, and explained to her where Ghislaine Maxwell learned the art of extortion. Her father, an operative for Israel–and who she taught it to–(Epstein the no-money-nobody.) I asked her if she realizes that people at high levels were/ARE being extorted to do the bidding of their extortionists…?” I never used Trump’s name because she would have shut down, but she shuddered at the name Epstein.
I reminded her about my Dad’s friend and patient who was the commander of the U.S.S. Liberty, Captain McGonagle, who went to his grave feeling betrayed by his country. Mum was silent, and nodded her head. She remembers.

I left it to her to put two and two about WHO is being extorted. But it won’t happen. Even if the extortionists played actual video footage of her hero committing crimes against children, she’d say: “It’s fake.” I don’t blame her for wanting a hero, and mourning for what she thinks was a better country.
