There is a horror film out now called OBSESSION. It is a classic tale of a man who got what he wished for.
Libertarianism is the wish, not for liberty, but for a state that can be 100% gamed to protect the rich and powerful from any and all responsibility for the poor and weak. That’s why, when Thomas Massie had a chance to support the Emmett Till Anti-Lynching Act, he stood foursquare in favor–of not lifting a finger to prevent lynching despite the fact that the overwhelming percentage of domestic terror in the US is white, racist, and MAGA. Why should the rich and powerful have to bother protecting the brown and poor? The state exists to help the rich and powerful get richer and more powerful, not to burden them with having to care about the losers.
For related reasons, Massie just loved sending out Family Christmas Cards glorifying the Gun Cult and helping enrich the Arms Industry that, in turn, handsomely rewarded his support. After all, what better way to honor the birth of him who said that “He who lives by the sword will die by the sword” than this?:
Who gives a shit if guns are the number one cause of child death? They aren’t his children. Again, the state exists so that the rich and powerful can be protected from having to bother with the poor and weak victims of gun violence. That is what Libertarianism is and that is what it has always believed and practiced.
But now, Thomas Massie and every other other Libertarian have gotten their wish in the apotheosis of their evil dream that is Donald Trump and, like the schmuck in OBSESSION, are discovering they have created a horror story.
So sure: I’m glad he opposed Trump with respect to child rape. Which is to say, I’m glad he was capable of acknowledging the absolute bare minimum of human decency, unlike the rest of his evil GOP cult–at least in that one instance. But I’m not pinning a medal on his chest for it any more than I am expecting applause for my valiant choice to not beat up and rob a child today. Massie was the least worst option in a party filled with the most worst human beings and now they have turned on him and eaten him too. So long, Tom. Your stench was slightly less than that of the rest of the GOP. That does not make you a hero.
Meanwhile, what really needs to happen is the utter destruction of his evil party, not some imaginary “reform” of a cult that is “purifying” itself by stamping out the last gossamer shreds of human decency that still remain in it.
Annihilate the Unclean Thing. Let not one stone of the GOP be left standing on another.

Trump turned the Republican Party into a personality cult, similar to North Korea. They have no principles, just be slavishly for whatever Dear Leader tells them. They are riding high now, but when Trump is gone, they will fracture into various, nasty little factions.
The Republicans no longer welcome moderates, who they attack as “RINO’s.” They welcome white supremacists, Neo Fascists and even Anti Semites however. They have become a foul stew of hate and resentment. I hope they are destroyed as a party and never achieve power again.
I am a former Republican who cannot stomach how rancid the party has become.

We don’t have a Democracy. How could you not bring up the horrifying fact that Israel, who is conducting a genocide purchased a candidate for Kentucky.
While I’m personally not a prepper, I can see why some Americans want to keep their guns.
