MAGA is Nietzschean with Christian Perfume

This is astute:

Christopher Nolan again demonstrates the central thesis of Tom Holland’s DOMINION:

So profound has been the impact of Christianity on the development of Western civilisation that it has come to be hidden from view. It is the incomplete revolutions which are remembered; the fate of those which triumph is to be taken for granted.

Christianity is the most successful revolution in the history of our species. So successful that its assumptions are simply taken for granted even by those who imagine they are not deeply Christian or “self-evident”.

Matt Walsh MAGA Catholic, meanwhile, demonstrates that the MAGA cult is the most profoundly anti-Christ movement since the Nazis. Not anti-Christian. Anti-Christ. The intense hatred of MAGA for the actual teaching of Jesus is matched only by its hollow, sentimental attachment to smells, bells, and a few trinkets like rosaries and Precious Moments figurines. Paul calls it “having a form of religion while denying its power”.

MAGA is Nietzsche for lowbrows and aspiring orcs. It is a satanic irony that its biggest apostles lie that they are the Greatest Christians of All Time. But then, the devil is a liar after all.

Ironically, Holland puts his finger on the MAGA cult’s move toward screaming that everybody they hate is a Komminnissist. It’s not really Communism that anti-Christ Nazis like Walsh hate. They love the gulags and the firing squads and the concentration camps and the mass killings and deportations and all the accoutrements of Stalinism. It’s Christ and the exaltation of the poor and the little guy and all the pieces of the gospel Communism cherished that they hate. They love all that is evil in Communism. It is only what is good in it that MAGA despise.
