There! That should get your attention.
Permit me to tell you why: Do you want to lower the abortion rate or raise it? If lower, vote Dem. If you want to raise it, vote GOP. It’s really that simple.
Here’s reality: you can either help reduce abortion rates or help raise them. There is no third option. If you vote third party, you are not only helping to raise them, you are helping to make sure that a host of other grave evils being committed by the MAGA Cult continue and metastasize.
These include but are not limited to
- massive corruption
- ICE terrorism
- concentration camps
- murder of civilians
- betrayal of allies and alliance with Putin’s criminal regime
- idiotic tariffs
- unjust war with Iran and the resulting economic chaos as oil is strangled
- transformation of our military into the weaponized arm of the MAGA crime syndicate
- protection of the Epstein pedophile ring
- war on our Constitution
- war on brown Christians and Muslims
- war on the Catholic Church
- contempt for the rule of law
- war on a free press
and much, much more.
Because the plain fact is only one party has a hope in the world of ending Trump and his cult’s reign of terror (which includes killing bushels of unborn children).
“But abortion! Democrats are babykillers!
For the love of God, clear your mind of cant. I repeat: the documented fact is that Dems consistently lower abortion rates by attacking poverty and thus reducing demand, while the Cult consistently raises abortion rates by attacking the poor and thus increasing demand.
Observe:

As rates measurement became standardized through the 70s, the rate “rose,” not because there was stratospherically increasing abortion under Nixon/Ford/Carter post-Roe, but because the abortion that had always been happening was now getting measured with more and more data piling in over the next seven years after 1973.
In other words, what happened was that they started keeping records of an abortion rate that was already high. Guttmacher Institute and NPR estimate there were roughly 200,000 to 1.2 million illegal abortions per year in the United States during the 1950s and 1960 with about 20-25% of pregnancies ending in abortion (and about 200 maternal deaths a year with thousands more cases of severe injuries, infections, or permanent infertility). Roe was an attempt (by a GOP-dominated court) to address in law what was already de facto in reality. Because the real driver of the abortion rate is and always has been economics, not law. Women do not obtain abortions for fun. They obtain them, 3/4 of the time, due to economic pressure to abort. What the Court did was reason that, since we have never been a culture that seeks to do what is necessary to relieve economic stress on poor families (and we were becoming even less so by the early 70s–a fact that has not changed so since), the prudent thing was to create a relief valve on that pressure cooker so that women responding to those economic stresses would not be punished for seeking abortion.
Abortion flatlined, not dropped, under Reagan, (who appointed pro-choice judges) and reached its highest point under Bush 41. That’s when an even more overwhelmingly GOP Court gave us Casey which upheld and underscored Roe. Yet despite more liberal abortion law, there was then a huge drop under Clinton, which ended and then spiked a little under Bush 43.
Why? Better economic policy for the poor under Clinton, followed by war and economic disaster under Bush. To quote Clinton, “It’s the economy, stupid.”
Then there was another huge drop under Obama, who brought abortion to its lowest rate since Roe–followed by an 8% rise under Trump 45.
Why? Better economic and health policy for the poor under Obama, followed by sadistic economic policy and the economic calamity of the Pandemic brought to us by the bungling of The Most Pro-life President in History. These Trump handed Biden and because of them Dobbs had zero effect in keeping the rate from continuing to rise after it achieved the Great Holy Grail of the pro-life movement: the destruction of Roe.
As to Trump 47: According to tracking data from the Guttmacher Institute:
• In 2017, there were 862,320 abortions provided within the formal U.S. healthcare system.
• By 2024, that annual figure rose to 1,048,700 abortions, and numbers for 2025 reached 1,126,000.
That represents an increase of approximately 30.6%.
The Church teaches that we cannot commit a lesser evil. In other words, saying, “Since I am not a rapist it’s okay if I steal your purse” is absurd.
But she affirms–and always has affirmed–that we are morally bound to try to lessen evil when we cannot eliminate it. As the history of pre-Roe abortion rates shows, outlawing abortion is ineffective and destructive to maternal health. As both US rates after Dobbs and the experience of other countries shows, abortion rates paradoxically increase when you ban and outlaw it. So we will never magick abortion away by mere force of law. It’s not going to happen. But you can help reduce it (and a host of other evils) by voting Dem. Because Dems consistently lower the abortion rate by attacking demand effectively–as well as attacking the host of other grave evils the MAGA crime syndicat of corruption, oppression, and treason is committing.
Or you can do *maximum* evil by voting GOP.
So the choice is simple:
If you want to lower abortion rates, vote Democrat from top to bottom of the ballot. Not only will you reduce abortion rates instead of raise them, you will destroy a corrupt, criminal, traitorous, treasonous regime of unjust war, theft, rape, oppression, terror, concentration camps, and murder and begin the process of healing we so badly need.
If you want to raise abortion rates, vote GOP.
If you want to raise abortion rates and incur exactly the charge of empty performative piety Jesus condemns, then bury your talent in the ground, vote third party and lie, “Both Sides are the Same”. Your call.
Tomorrow, we will look at some common attempts to wriggle out of this inexorable dichotomy.
