…into the most spiritually and physically deadly heresy in the history of the US Church. Its tentative title is SEDUCTION: HOW THE PRO-LIFE MOVEMENT SOLD ITS SOUL AND LOST ITS MIND. Recently, I had a great conversation with reader David Wemhoff that I think will be of great interest to Christians perplexed by the phenomenon of the MAGA sect and the bizarre phenomenon of the “pro-life” heresy in the US Church, as well as how to think with the Church’s Consistent Life Ethic. We will finish this conversation tomorrow and I will explain why–as a prolife Catholic–I believe we have not merely moral permission from the Catholic tradition, but a moral obligation to vote Democrat in the present hour and for the foreseeable future. And for those interested in the book I am writing about this, much of what you will hear in this conversation and tomorrow is a sort of precis of a large chunk of the book. The problem we face is not primarily political (though it, of course, touches on the dimension of the political.) It is spiritual and theological and is a diabolical parody of the gospel that can only be cured by the gospel.
