“It’s been three days. Why has he not excommunicated all the people I hate?”

“Will he continue teaching the Catholic Faith?”

He’s the Pope, dude. Get real.

“Will he put America or God first?”

He’s the Pope, dude. Get real.

“Why does he prioritize foreigners and poor people and brown people and give short shrift to productive American English speakers?”

He’s the Pope, dude. Get real.

“Why does he address the people of his diocese in Italian and not English?”

He’s the Pope, dude. Get real.

“Why does he talk about ‘economic justice’?”

He’s the Pope, dude. Get real.

“What if he screws up somehow–like Peter did?”

Then he’s definitely the Pope, dude. Get real.

  1. Yes, and Leo is a pastor, not a cop. Do not expect mass excommunications. Any change will be slow and deliberate, not to mention well thought out.

  2. It seems we read everything from the perspective of politics, and our favorite hot button issues, political or ecclesial.

  3. My poor sister has already informed my very elderly mother that Pope Leo is the enemy and not to be trusted. She gave my mother that Taylor Marshall book years ago.

    I wonder if it even occurs to the rabble rousers that they are gravely responsible for separating the sheep from the shepherd? Millstones come to mind.
